Pi. נִישֵּׁל to strike off, to cause chips to fly off. Ib. ונִישֵּׁל כתיב vnashal (Deut. 19:5) may be read vnishshel (Pi.) and the iron chips off a part of the wood, v. supra; ונָשַׁל קרינן the traditional reading is vnashal, and the iron slips out of the helve (v. אֵם).
